The Grand Champion 4-H Market Heifer was exhibited by Macey Goretska, of Corydon. It sold for $20,000 to Bob Bettle, TransOva, and Midwest Club Calf Producers with support from Workhorse Farms, Fowler Elevator, Wayne County Hospital, Honor Show Chow Champions Reward Fund and $9,050 local support/ citizens of Corydon.
Macey Goretska’s parents are Tracy and Mandi Goretska. A first year exhibiter, Macey Goretska, showed the Grand Champion 4-H Market Heifer at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. She is a member of the Benton Battlers 4-H club exhibiting horses and hogs at the Wayne County Fair. Macey attends Wayne Community Schools where she will be a seventh grader.
Her activities include softball, basketball, and cross country. Macey’s summer activities included helping with vacation bible school, babysitting and working at the local pool.
The Grand Champion 4-H Market Lamb was exhibited by Hunter Gerths, of Albia. It sold for $11,500 to Hy-Vee Food Stores, Jay and Paula Nelson family, IFAA Lamb Sale Supporters and ADM Alliance Nutrition/ ShowTec with support from Workhorse Farms/ Rob Russell, John Crall, Ty and Nicole Allen and $6,000 local support/ citizens of Albia
Hunter Gerths’ parents are Mike and Heather Hindman. Gerths returns to the Sale of Champions for a third time with his Grand Champion 4-H Market Lamb at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. He is a member of the Monroe County Troy Troopers 4-H club and is on the Senior Youth 4-H Council. This is Hunter’s sixth year in the market lamb project and his home raised lamb weighed in at 144.5 pounds. He has also helped with county fair clean-up and assisted with the youth football camp. Hunter is a sophomore at Albia Community High School where he is active in football and basketball.
