CTI holds Customer Appreciation Day

CENTERVILLE — Centerville Tractor Implement held Customer Appreciation Day Wednesday, Feb. 27 to talk about some of the new technology and systems offered to farmers for 2013. They had a great turn out even without the cooperation of Mother Nature.

Two clinics were held, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The first clinic was Small Ag, lunch was provided with a Planter Clinic held in the afternoon.

A local farmer, who did not want to be identified, after the planter clinic said he has a lot of concern about the new technology involved with the new equipment.  He recently purchased a new planter with the new system.

As farmers today they are faced with many changes also.

The unidentified farmer, who has been farming for more than 50 years, said he is very intimidated by the new technology, after he attended the clinic he felt better about the challenge he is facing this Spring.

"If all else fails I will trade for an older planter and let the younger generation worry about that one," he stated with a big smile on his face.

Farm equipment has evolved a lot, from feeding the animals to pulling the equipment, to now being able to eat lunch while the tractor is on auto pilot pulling bigger and more powerful planters.

The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page. The Iowegian wants readers to think about the Internal Revenue Service scandal. Dick Polman in an editorial wrote "the IRS' targeting of small-fry conservative groups was not a conspiratorial socialist plot. It was knuckleheaded, ill-supervised bureaucratic ineptitude." So, the question of the week is, "Do you agree or disagree with Polman's analysis of the IRS scandal?"

A. Agree
B. Disagree
C. Not sure
