Merritts to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

John and Jeannie Merritt will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an evening cookout on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Iowa’s Outback Getaway Resort (Swan’s Cabins) northeast of Promise City.

The event will be hosted by their children, Sally Rash, Andy Merritt and Susan Bunnell. The family invites everyone to bring their lawn chairs and join them for the evening from 5 to 9 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by family and friends. The couple requests no gifts, please, just your company.

John Merritt and Norma Jean Sharp were married Aug. 12, 1956 at the Seymour Evangelical United Bretheren Church with Rev. Jack Merritt officiating. Attendants were Merrill Shelley and Patricia Copley.
