Chariton River at S56 in southern Lucas County

The wide and slow Chariton River Saturday morning in southeast Lucas County at the S56 bridge. The river is a major source of water for Rathbun Lake. It appears the river has totally inundated surrounding areas on its way to the reservoir. Rathbun Lake elevation Monday dropped to 926.49 feet. Rathbun Lake boat ramps are open at Honey Creek State Park and Buck Creek Marina.
