Two neighboring properties in the 2012 street improvements project area with council valuations that go in the opposite direction. The property on the left, 412 N. 10th St., was assigned a council valuation of $30,000. The county assessor says it's currently worth $41,240. The property on the right, at 400 W. Washington, was assigned a council valuation of $75,000. The county assessor says it's worth $56,140.

The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page. The Iowegian wants readers to think about the Internal Revenue Service scandal.
