Centerville FFA senior trip

Help support the six Centerville FFA seniors in their quest to go to Branson, Mo. on their summer FFA trip. While in Branson they will visit the Trout Hatchery at Lake Taneycomo and the George Washington Carver Museum to further their Ag Education. Also, they will be visiting the Titanic Museum, Silver Dollar City, a haunted house, dinosaur museum and eating at the Dixie Stampede Theater. All six of the seniors have participated in FFA and Ag Education all four years of high school. They are planning to do many fundraisers, beginning with one on Jan. 27 where they will be waiting tables at Pizza Hut. Ten percent of Pizza Hut’s profits for the evening and all the tips earned from 5-7 p.m. will go to the seniors. They are also selling Tupperware, and gathering old ink cartridges to raise money for their trip. If you would like to help the seniors, eat at Pizza Hut on Jan. 27 from 5-7 p.m., and if you would like to purchase Tupperware, contact Ms. Gaskins at (641) 856-0837. The seniors involved are: Kelsey Shanahan (FFA president) Chelsea Garretson (FFA reporter), Brian Sulser (FFA sentinel), Amanda McGill (FFA member) and Stephanie Summers (FFA member). Ms. Gaskins will be chaperoning these students while in Branson.

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about President Barack Obama. Since Barack Obama was elected president, two significant things have occurred: The military repealed the "Dont' Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve and just recently he publicly said he supports gay marriage. For some, these actions signal a shift away from God, morality and threatens national security. Others say it's about time people in same-sex relationships can wed and openly gay service members do not threaten national security. Now, depending on who you listen to, President Obama is the first "gay" president of the United States. Is that something to worry about? So, the question this week is, "President Barack Obama, the first "gay" president of the United States. Is it cause for concern?"

A. Yes it is.
B. No it is not.
C. Don't care.
D. Not sure.
