Iowa officials with the American Cancer Society estimated that a county the size of Appanoose County should be able to field 15 teams for a Relay for Life event and they set a goal of $15,000. They, and even local organizers, were overwhelmed when local volunteers created 31 teams and so far have raised more than $40,000 before and during this weekend’s overnight event.
