WEST DES MOINES — Boy: Dan and Christy Surls of West Des Moines are excited to announce the birth of their new baby boy.

Alden James (AJ) was born July 11, 2011 in Des Moines. He weighed eight pounds and 11 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

AJ joins big brother William, age three.

Grandparents are Verl and Jenny Hutchison of rural Centerville, Kaye Surls of Iowa City and Russ and DeAnn Surls of Ackley.

Great-grandparents are Dottie Peterson of Alden, Wayne Surls of Iowa Falls and Laura Brewer of Greenville, Ky.
