ALLERTON —
The city of Allerton reported a wastewater overflow from a manhole in a field on the east side of town Thursday. An unknown amount of sewage entered a tributary to Medicine Creek about 30 ft. from the manhole.
Dairiconcepts Lp is temporarily holding its wastewater to reduce flow in the sewer until the issue is resolved. A pumping contractor will remove the blockage today.
Samples are being collected both upstream and downstream to determine water quality impacts. The DNR is monitoring the situation and cautions people to keep children and pets out of the area for at least 48 hours.
