High chances of snow through 5 p.m. tonight

CENTERVILLE — The National Weather Service is predicting no less than a 60 percent chance of snow throughout 5 p.m. today. After that, the system should be out of the area.

The weather service is predicting an additional 1.2 inches of snow before the storm leaves the area, however.

The temperature will climb from 29 degrees to 32 degrees over the morning, afternoon and evening today. Wind speeds will peak around 20 mph today at noon, with gusts registering speeds of 28 mph at the same time.

The wind chill factor will hover around the upper teens to low-20s.

State Highway 5 in Appanoose County was completely covered, according to the Iowa Department Transportation website at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday.

The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page. The Iowegian wants readers to think about the Internal Revenue Service scandal. Dick Polman in an editorial wrote "the IRS' targeting of small-fry conservative groups was not a conspiratorial socialist plot. It was knuckleheaded, ill-supervised bureaucratic ineptitude." So, the question of the week is, "Do you agree or disagree with Polman's analysis of the IRS scandal?"

A. Agree
B. Disagree
C. Not sure
