Wayne County Hospital's patient wing celebrates opening day

Patients, visitors and employees at the Wayne County Hospital enjoyed a momentous occasion on June 15 with the opening of the new H. Dale and Lois Bright Patient Wing. The new 10,000 square foot expansion features single and semi-private patient rooms all complete with private bath and wheel chair accessible showers. Two well designed and fully equipped intensive care rooms are included in the project, plus, individual waiting areas are also available for family and visitors.

“I have to commend the staff for their attention to detail and very careful planning. Everyone was on-board and their enthusiasm and tireless efforts made the execution of this move virtually seamless to our patients and visitors,” commented Brian Burnside, CEO. “We are delighted to be in our new space. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and also address family needs with plenty of seating,” added Sheila Mattly, chief nursing officer. The patient room addition is the first phase to be completed with the second phase to include the Roger and Janet Winslow Family Maternity Suite and the special care Comfort Suite. The entire $6.5 million project is due for completion by October 2009 with an open house to be held in celebration.
