Woman killed by truck while in bed

MEADVILLE, Pa. — An out-of-control pickup truck smashed into a brick home, killing a woman who had slipped into bed.

“The truck hit the house . . . and landed on her,” said Scott Schell, the Crawford County coroner.

Carol Lee Ramey, 51, was home alone at the time. An autopsy determined she died from blunt force trauma to the head and torso.

It could not be determined if Ramey was asleep, Schell said. The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m.

A truck driven by Charlene Lillie traveled approximately 100 yards through a yard before striking a few small trees and then hitting and embedding itself in a downstairs bedroom.

An investigation to the case is ongoing. So far no charges have been filed.

The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page. The Iowegian wants readers to think about the Internal Revenue Service scandal. Dick Polman in an editorial wrote "the IRS' targeting of small-fry conservative groups was not a conspiratorial socialist plot. It was knuckleheaded, ill-supervised bureaucratic ineptitude." So, the question of the week is, "Do you agree or disagree with Polman's analysis of the IRS scandal?"

A. Agree
B. Disagree
C. Not sure
