Edouard posts appeal bond

PELLA — Former Pella pastor Patrick Edouard, who was sentenced to up to five years in prison earlier this month, posted a $5,000 appeal bond from the Marion County Jail on the day he was sentenced. According to the Iowa Attorney General's Office, Edouard is out of jail until his appeal can be heard.

Edouard was convicted of four counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist and one count of entering into a pattern/scheme of exploitation by a therapist. He was sentenced on Oct. 19 to one year in prison on each of the exploitation counts and five years on the ongoing charge.

As of now, the individual sentences per exploitation count will be served consecutively, and the sentence on the pattern charge will run concurrently with those.
