Oskaloosa Municipal Water Dept. to move

OSKALOOSA — Effective Jan. 9, the Oskaloosa Municipal Water Department will move its office location.

The department will move from 213 S. First St., to 1208 S. Seventh St. The office will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 8, to move between locations. It will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the new location.

The Water Department purchased the old Wander’s Automotive building in August of 2012 with the intention to move the office and shop facilities into one location. That will soon become a reality. The department is in the process of designing the new office layout and will begin construction in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, staff will locate the offices in the modular home directly behind the shop/office building. There is a new concrete parking area and handicap-accessible ramp leading up to the modular home for ease of access.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the debate Rep. Larry Sheets talks about at the state capital centered on "accepting Medicaid expansion as defined by the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), or choosing to create an Iowa specific health care program. Those who prefer the Medicaid expansion believe the federal government will fulfill its commitments three years from now. Those opposing explain that the federal government is only capable of that by borrowing the money from the Chinese." So, the question this week is, "Should Iowa accept the federal government's Medicaid expansion or create a health care program specific to the state?"

A. Accept Medicaid expansion.
B. Create health care program.
