Fairfield man killed in crash

FAIRFIELD — A Tuesday afternoon crash claimed the life of a Fairfield man.

The Iowa State Patrol reports the crash took place at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 34 east of Cedar Avenue. A Ford puickup driven by Fred Clubb, 52, Batavia, and a Chevy Suburban driven by Neville Wiggins, 40, Fairfield, were both eastbound. Wiggins' vehicle rear-ended the pickup, then rolled into the south ditch.

The patrol says Wiggins was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. He was reportedly not wearing his seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page. The Iowegian wants readers to think about the Internal Revenue Service scandal. Dick Polman in an editorial wrote "the IRS' targeting of small-fry conservative groups was not a conspiratorial socialist plot. It was knuckleheaded, ill-supervised bureaucratic ineptitude." So, the question of the week is, "Do you agree or disagree with Polman's analysis of the IRS scandal?"

A. Agree
B. Disagree
C. Not sure
