Oskaloosa resident dies Thursday in early morning fire

OSKALOOSA — An Oskaloosa resident died Thursday in an early morning house fire.

The Oskaloosa Fire Department received a report of a fire at 3:49 a.m. Thursday at 401 N. A St.

Oskaloosa firefighters say two people were in the home at the time of the fire. Fire officials are not releasing the name of the deceased person at this time.

The fire is under investigation. The origin of the fire is unknown and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Eighteen Oskaloosa firefighters and two members of the New Sharon Fire Department responded to the fire. Also, officials from the State Fire Marshall’s office responded to the fire.

Firefighters were on scene from 3:49 a.m. until about 2 p.m.
