OTTUMWA —
Southern Iowa is under a winter storm watch, with warnings clearly possible, but this round of snow isn't looking as strong as it did earlier.
At least, not here.
The storm created blizzard conditions as far south as the Texas panhandle but is expected to drop only 3-7 inches of snow in southern Iowa. Early predictions had indicated as much as 10 inches.
While the snow could start falling tonight, most is expected during the day Tuesday. It will be windy, with sustained winds over 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph, which will make blowing snow a problem as well.
This is the second storm in under a week for Iowa residents. February hasn't stayed all that close to the average temperatures this month, generally running below normal.
The good news? This is the time of year when temperatures do start rising noticeably. The average high for Tuesday is 41.
