OTTUMWA —
The man wanted in Ottumwa on child endangerment charges was discovered in an attic in Ely early Saturday morning.
Michael Geoffrey Blair, 25, of Swisher, was found in an attic in Ely, a small town south of Cedar Rapids, at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday, said Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner.
“We filed some intelligence that took us to him,” Gardner said, though he would not comment further on circumstances surrounding Blair’s arrest.
On Dec. 7, the Ottumwa Police Department responded to Ottumwa Regional Health Center on a report of a 2-month-old infant in the emergency room with serious injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for Blair for multiple acts of child endangerment, a Class B felony, on which he was charged Saturday morning.
In the OPD’s original statement, they notified the public that Blair is known to frequent the Cedar Rapids area.
Blair was transported to Wapello County Jail on Monday, and will be held on $200,000 cash-only bond.
