Marion County asks for snowmobile aid

KNOXVILLE — Marion County is setting up a new way to help people during the winter months, and it needs help.

The idea is simple: Winter can mean enough snow that conventional vehicles have a hard time getting around. It can also leave people in dangerous situations well away from roadways.

Marion County Emergency Management believes residents could be the solution. They're asking people who have snowmobiles and are willing to help emergency responders to join a registry. People with the snowmobiles can then be contacted if needed during severe winter weather when roads may be impassable.

Volunteers can join the registry by downloading this form and returning it by one of three ways. Completed forms can be e-mailed to janderson@co.marion.ia.us, mailed to Marion County Emergency Management, 214 E. Main Street, Knoxville, IA 50138, or they can be dropped off at the Marion County Emergency Management office in the Marion County Courthouse.

No information from the forms will be released to outside entities.
