Cincinnati native leaves for Afghanistan
The tremendous amounts of rain we received caused a lot of damage to many people’s homes, crops, properties, businesses, etc. Appanoose County had several bridges wash out and become unsafe for use resulting in many closed roads and detours for the area.

Nancy Mericle, resident of Centerville, has loaned me a short autobiography of her mother, Alberta Larsen Nilssen, who was taken to a prairie homestead in Canada in 1905, when she was still a baby of 1 and 1/2 years old.

Fourth of July celebrated in style
Well, I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. The weather sure seemed to put a damper on a lot of the outdoor activities. This is the second 4th of July in a row that it has rained.
