Tickets available for IHCC Culinary Arts scholarship dinner

OTTUMWA — Tickets are available for the seventh annual eight-course gourmet dinner to benefit students in Indian Hills Community College's culinary arts program. The dinner event will be held in the Indian Hills dining room on Friday, Jan. 25.

Two special guests will be featured this year. Spanish wine sommelier, Pablo Gutierrez, as well as Spain's top mycologist and owner of Restaurant Fatima in the province of Castilla y Leon, Fatima Perez, will be working with the culinary students to prepare the various courses.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a social time featuring wine and an assortment of appetizers influenced by Perez. Guests will then enjoy a multi-course meal that will include goat cheese crostini with fig compote; Valencia orange and pomegranate salad with olive oil and sherry vinegar; veal shank ravioli; trout with Serrano ham, porcini and red wine; lamb chop with honey aioli; dry-rubbed ribeye fiorentina with roasted potatoes; gorgonzola with walnuts, mint and sour cherry jam; and gateau fondant of candied orange, almond nougatine and chocolate. An artisanal bread assortment will also be featured during the evening.

"This will be an exceptional evening with an eclectic mix of favorite dishes from around the globe honed toward Iowa tastes," said Gordon Rader CEC, Indian Hills Culinary Arts program director.  "As always, all proceeds are used to help culinary students continue their education at Indian Hills."

Several outstanding Indian Hills culinary students will be awarded scholarships at the end of the meal.

Tickets are available by emailing Rader at grader@indianhills.edu. Tables of 10 are available.
