OTTUMWA —
In recognition of Black History Month, a number of African-American spirituals will be featured in Indian Hills Community College’s Winter Vocal Concert on Sunday, Feb. 19. Under the direction of Micahel Philipsen, the Indian Hills Concert Choir and the Camerata Singers will perform during the 3 p.m. concert. Admission to the performance is free and open to the public.
Among the selections on the concert program will be the spirituals “Ain’a that Good News,” “Poor Man Lazrus,” “Sit Down Servant, Soon Ah Will Be Done” and “Ride on, King Jesus.” Other selections will include Eugene Butler’s “I Never Saw a Moor,” Emma Lou Diemer’s “Three Madrigals,” John Rutter’s “Distant Land” and Mozart’s “Ave verum corpus.”

School board approves master contract agreement, hires Spanish teacher
The Centerville School Board held a regular meeting Monday, May 14 at the Administration Building.
During the meeting the board approved the resignation of Jerry Meredith from Lakeview custodian and Chuck Banks from his coaching positions.
