Dekker, Stamp announce engagement

CENTERVILLE — Mark and Shawn Dekker are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Katelyn Ann to Luke Stamp, son of Kurt and Caroline Stamp of Persia, Iowa.

Kate is a senior at the University of Nebraska (Kearney) majoring in science education. She will student teach in Harlan.

Luke is a 2011 graduate of the University of Nebraska (Kearney)  and is employed by E4SONS Crop Intelligence and Farming in Woodbine.

The couple and their families are looking forward to an Oct. 15, 2011 wedding in Centerville

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about President Barack Obama. Since Barack Obama was elected president, two significant things have occurred: The military repealed the "Dont' Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve and just recently he publicly said he supports gay marriage. For some, these actions signal a shift away from God, morality and threatens national security. Others say it's about time people in same-sex relationships can wed and openly gay service members do not threaten national security.
