Iowa Farm Bureau annual meeting reception at Hall of Pride features Iowa celebrities including Estes, Gable and Dwight

WEST DES MOINES — Iowa Farm Bureau members will enjoy a special meet and greet with some of Iowa’s “greats,” including internationally-known opera singer Simon Estes, wrestling legend Dan Gable and former Iowa Hawkeye and National Football League football player Tim Dwight. The reception will be held today at the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Iowa Hall of Pride is a special place for the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. IFBF is the presenting sponsor of the hall, which showcases the achievements of Iowa athletes, students, sports legends, actors, musicians and more. The Hall of Pride is located in the Iowa Events Center on the first floor of HyVee Hall.

“Our annual meeting theme this year is “People, Progress, Pride,” and we couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate that theme than the Iowa Hall of Pride,” said Barb Lykins, IFBF director of community resources. “We’re very proud of the work our members do every day on their farms and in their communities, this reception will honor them, as well.”

A ticket is needed to attend the event and they can be purchased when members register for the annual meeting at their county offices. Farm Bureau members are encouraged to wear the colors of apparel of their favorite high school, college or professional teams. Longtime Des Moines musician Tony Valdez will provide entertainment and Estes, Gable and Dwight will be on hand to talk to members.

Farm Bureau’s annual meeting runs Dec. 4-5 at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center and features educational seminars and speakers covering farm finances, management, policy and other issues.
