Taking care of pests when others can’t

CENTERVILLE — Dear Editor,

Since it's that time of the year for bugs and related pests to look for a new home in your house, I would like to tell you about my experience with a local pest control company.

The last week of May I noticed small ants taking over the kitchen counter. After several attempts calling and leaving messages, the call was returned.

On June 2 the lady came and a complete kitchen, house inside and out, plus the garage and around it was done.

If you have any problems just call she said and we'll take care of it. Sign here.

Well, for the next two weeks the ants would get quite thick at times. Also, no dead insects were found anywhere sprayed in or out of the garage.

I made calls but few were returned and always excuses for why they can't come back. One was I don't have the money you paid me because it's already spent.

After more calls and excuses she said your warranty has run out and anyway it also says it's at our discretion to do a job over again. Read the signed receipt, so no action will be taken.

I may take legal action.

So, folks, beware.

After two weeks of those little ants, I took my own spray action ... a spray can of Raid Ant and Roach killer worked, and was a lot cheaper.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the debate Rep. Larry Sheets talks about at the state capital centered on "accepting Medicaid expansion as defined by the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), or choosing to create an Iowa specific health care program. Those who prefer the Medicaid expansion believe the federal government will fulfill its commitments three years from now. Those opposing explain that the federal government is only capable of that by borrowing the money from the Chinese." So, the question this week is, "Should Iowa accept the federal government's Medicaid expansion or create a health care program specific to the state?"

A. Accept Medicaid expansion.
B. Create health care program.
