Time to come home?

CENTERVILLE — The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about America's presence in the Middle East.

Columnist Pat Buchanan writes the country has spent trillions of dollars, thousands of Americans have been killed and what do we have to show for it?

"Perhaps the best course of action for America is to lower our profile in that region, bring most of our diplomats and troops home, and let these people work out their destiny themselves," Buchanan writes.

So, the question this week is, "Is it time for the United States to come home from the Middle East?"

Go to the Daily Iowegian website, www.dailyiowegian.com, and scroll down the home page to POLL on the right hand side and cast your vote. Or call the Iowegian office at (641) 856-6336 or email the editor at iowegianeditor@mchsi.com to cast a vote.

Vote on the Question of the Week up until Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 12 p.m. The results will be published in the Thursday, Sept. 27 paper along with a new question.

Here are the results from the last poll question: "If you lived in one of the street construction zones would you be fine paying the increased property assessment?"

The Iowegian wants readers to think about Memorial Day services as a way to honor our fallen soldiers and loved ones. So, the question of the week is, "Memorial Day is Monday.
