Hurting Main Street?

CENTERVILLE — The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about Walmart.

Walmart has had a presence in Centerville for many years with their store on Highway 5 on the north side of town. On Aug. 15, Walmart plans to have a grand opening for their new store on Highway 5 on the south side of town.

Some people argue big retailers have a negative effect on small-town businesses. Do you agree?

So, the question this week is, "Do big retailers, like Walmart, negatively impact mom and pop small-town businesses?"
