CENTERVILLE —
The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page.
The Iowegian wants readers to think about a recent survey that found 25 percent of Americans consider themselves poor.
According to a new survey by online lender CashNetUSA.com, 32 percent of individuals living in the north central region of the U.S. consider themselves poor, followed by 25 percent in the south, 23 percent in the west and 20 percent in the northeast. Among younger Americans, 32 percent under the age of 30 consider themselves poor contrasted with just 14 percent of those ages 50 to 59.
The survey said the continuing economic slump is having a toll on Americans’ psyche with many feeling flat broke as they try to live paycheck to paycheck and how they are managing what little financial resources they have.
So, the question this week is, "Do you consider yourself poor?"
Go to the Daily Iowegian website, www.dailyiowegian.com, and scroll down the home page to POLL on the right hand side and cast your vote. Or call the Iowegian office at (641) 856-6336 or email the editor at iowegianeditor@mchsi.com to cast a vote.
Vote on the Question of the Week up until Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 12 p.m. The results will be published in the Thursday, Sept. 13 paper along with a new question.
