Peoples Baptist Church auction for Uganda mission trip and church repairs

Peoples Baptist Church will be holding an auction on Friday, July 17 to raise money for church repairs and a mission trip to Uganda. Five people will be traveling to Uganda from Oct. 1 to Oct. 13. They are Barry Clinkenbeard, Tonya Clinkenbeard, Chris Kelly, Pastor David Clark and Charles Clark.

The auction will begin in the Peoples Baptist Church parking lot at 6:30 p.m. Some items that have been donated are a brand new John Deere pedal tractor, a 16-inch fresh water pearl necklace, a brand new 5,000 BTU air conditioner and a new Elgin 21 jewel pocket watch. Pastor Dick Allen of the Nazarene Church in Bloomfield will act as the auctioneer.

According to Clinkenbeard, the church supports several missionaries in Africa, but this will be the first mission trip that members from the church will take there. However, it could become a regular occurrence in the future.

Peoples Baptist Church is located at 423 N. 20th St. in Centerville.

Poll

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about the recent decision by the Centerville Municipal Waterworks Board of Directors to increase the fee for late payment of water bills. In a story published in Wednesday's Ad Express, board members announced a 10 percent late fee after two days late, a $50 red tag fee for accounts unpaid after seven days late and a $25 shut off fee, water service terminated after two weeks late. The board said the decision to increase the fees associated with late payment is to encourage customers to pay their bills on time. So, the question this week is, "Are these fees too much to ask for?"

A. Yes, they are.
B. No, they are not.
C. I'm not affected so I don't care.
