School board election being held today

A regular school board election for all districts including Centerville, Moulton, Moravia and Seymour will be held today. Polls open at noon and will close at 8 p.m.

Centerville has three open seats, with two candidates running. Steve Hoch, already a board member, and Martin Braster are the two candidates trying to fill the positions. The third position will be determined by write-in votes on the ballots. Polling locations in Centerville are the bus barn and Lakeview Elementary. Polling places in other communities in the district are Cincinnati City Hall, the Exline Community Building and Mystic City Hall.

In the Moravia school district there are two open positions. No one is running to fill the District one director position, so it will also be chosen by write-in ballots. John Houser is running for District three director. Voters will also be asked to decide on public measure A, which would adopt a revenue purpose statement describing the use of money from the penny sales, services and use tax for schools received by the Moravia Community School District. Moravia City Hall is the polling location for the Moravia district.

Moulton has three candidates vying for two positions. They are Wade A. Fowler, Jerilyn Inman and Laurence Sheets. Moulton City Hall is the polling location for the Moulton School District.

Voters in all three of these districts will also be asked to select someone for the Indian Hills Community College merged area 15. Richard C. Sharp is the only candidate running for the position.

The Seymour Community School District has two people running to fill two positions. They are Danny J. Furlin, Jr. and Tracy McMurry. The Seymour polling location is the Community Building in Seymour.

Poll

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about the recent decision by the Centerville Municipal Waterworks Board of Directors to increase the fee for late payment of water bills. In a story published in Wednesday's Ad Express, board members announced a 10 percent late fee after two days late, a $50 red tag fee for accounts unpaid after seven days late and a $25 shut off fee, water service terminated after two weeks late. The board said the decision to increase the fees associated with late payment is to encourage customers to pay their bills on time. So, the question this week is, "Are these fees too much to ask for?"

A. Yes, they are.
B. No, they are not.
C. I'm not affected so I don't care.
