The Food Bank of Southern Iowa announces their fall fundraiser, “Scan for the Holiday.”
Hy-Vee stores in Ottumwa, Albia, Centerville, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant are actively promote this fundraiser in their stores Nov. 2–22.
The Food Bank of Southern Iowa needs your help to replenish their warehouse. With winter nearing and federal, corporate and local donations declining they are unable to obtain the volume of food needed to supply their 160 agencies, enabling them to feed the hungry in their neighborhoods.
The fundraiser is simple. Take a “Scan for the Holiday” card up to a Hy-Vee store cashier, state the amount of money you would like to donate and this donated amount will be added to your grocery bill. “Scan for the Holiday” card will also be available by the cash register. Another option available while in Hy-Vee is to pick up a prepackaged bag of food to be added to your grocery bill then donated to the food bank.

With your generous donation during the cold winter in January and February, food will be available for an isolated senior, homeless, disable, unemployed and families in crisis and youth to enjoy a nutritious meal.
Their is a need for food in Appanoose and southern Iowa and The Lord’s Cupboard and SEIDA are very supportive of this fundraiser along with active participation from Centerville Hy-Vee.
