CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Fire Department along with the American Red Cross is planning to physically contact every household in Centerville (some 2,200 plus) to raise fire awareness, provide smoke detector batteries and answer questions on Saturday, Oct. 20. They need citizen volunteers to team with fire department and/or Red Cross workers to canvas each house in town starting at 8 a.m. Oct. 20. No special knowledge or skills are needed. If you are willing to give a couple hours of your Saturday, call Joyce Bieber, executive director of the Centerville-Rathbun Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at (641) 437-4102 or email joyce@centervilleia.com.
