CENTERVILLE —
It wasn't all about streets during Monday's Centerville City Council meeting.
The council approved an agreement for engineering services with French-Reneker-Associates, Inc. to assist the city to purchase land and make improvements at the Centerville Municipal Airport. The contract fee is for more than $68,000 and includes the acquisition of six land parcels "which will provide compliance with current Federal Aviation Administration standards for building restriction line and runway protection zone for the Centerville Airport."
The contract calls for French-Reneker-Associates to negotiate "reasonable (land) purchase agreements" for review by the city and Federal Aviation Administration, among other duties. Documents show 45.63 acres are listed to be purchased by fee and 2.27 acres by easement.
In other action, the council:
• Approved a resolution modifying the wages for maintenance worker Cody Brown to $14.87 per hour, which will go into effect Sept. 24.
• Approved a request to transfer a vacant city-owned lot at 1203 S. 15th St. to Chariton Valley Regional Housing Trust Fund, who is in the process of purchasing a vacant lot next door, George Johnson, building code compliance officer, said. Combine both lots and CVRHTF along with IHCC building trades class are going to construct a new house at the site, which is expected to start this year.
• Approved a resolution accepting the final completion of the sanitary sewer pipe rehabilitation-phase IV project under contract with Municipal Pipe Tool Company LLC at a cost of $375,063.43.
• Approved the sanitary sewer pipe rehabilitation-phase V project, which, according to an estimate of probable cost submitted by Hall Engineering, will cost $2,165,061.
Bids for Phase V are to be filed with the city by 1 p.m. Oct. 11 and considered by the council during their meeting Oct. 15.
• Approved the second change order for the sludge processing facilities improvements-2011 project under contract with Oakview dck LLC in the amount of $3,130.18 for additional cost for material and labor for flush hydrant. The first change order previously approved by the council for $19,874.14 now brings the cost for the project to $1,645,304.32. The original contract was for $1,622,300.
The agenda item, street financial report for fiscal year 2012, was deleted at the start of the meeting.
• Approved the resignation of officer Cody Jellison from the force, as announced by Centerville Police Chief Tom Demry, which was effective Sunday, Sept. 2. Chief Demry plans to meet with his committee to discuss the replacement process.
The next Centerville City Council regular meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at City Hall.
