CENTERVILLE —
The special school election held Dec. 4 appears to be on its way to reality after six of the 11 southeast Iowa counties involved submitted official vote totals.
The Dec. 4 special school election asked for the adoption of one question: "Shall the Indian Hills Community College (Merged Area XV) Board of Trustees be authorized to certify, as per Iowa Code Section 260C.28 (2), for tax years beginning July 1, 2013, continuation of a tax not exceeding six (6) cents per thousand dollars of assessed value in any one year and for a period not to exceed ten (10) years, for the purpose of program sharing between community colleges or for the purchase of instructional equipment?"
Voters in the six counties reporting so far have said yes to the tax continuation. Appanoose County had the closest results.
