CENTERVILLE —
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office arrested Gary Richard Miller, 26, of Seymour on Jan. 17 for one count of third degree sexual abuse and one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee.
According to the Seymour Community School District web site, Miller is listed in the school's 2011-2012 directory as support staff, independent aide.
The sheriff's press release says the arrest and alleged charges are a result of "an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old female." Iowa courts online lists the alleged offense date as Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012.
Third degree sexual abuse is a class C felony and sexual exploitation by a school employee is a class D felony.
Miller appeared before a magistrate and was released Jan. 18 with a $10,000 bond.
Miller has a preliminary hearing at the Wayne County Courthouse scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26 at 10:30 a.m.
A no contact order against Miller was issued to protect the minor.
