CENTERVILLE —
The Centerville City Council agenda for tonight's meeting at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall includes the consideration of six job descriptions.
Kim Crego, commissioner of municipal services, said the agenda items are updated job descriptions with a change in titles and duties.
If the council approves, Centerville will have two financial specialists, a cashier and customer service representative, an executive assistant, a lead water distribution operator, a lead wastewater operator and a commissioner of municipal services.
Crego said she would no longer perform the job of commissioner of municipal services and instead be the city administrator and city clerk. Only one person would need to be hired, hopefully within the next six months, to oversee the lead or foreman in the street, water and wastewater departments and that person would assume the title of commissioner of municipal services and oversee the day-to-day operations, budgets and capital planning for the three departments.
Currently, Steve Hawkins is the wastewater superintendent and the interim water superintendent and interim street commissioner.
Other items on the agenda include three public hearings and subsequent resolutions: One deals with proposed improvements at the Centerville Municipal Airport; one deals with a proposal to vacate an alley to Todd A. Sells for $1; and one deals with a proposal to convey city-owned real estate for the sum of $10 to Chariton Valley Regional Housing Trust, Inc.
A fourth resolution on the agenda is to set a time and place to hold a public hearing on a proposal to sell city-owned Lot 17 in Bella Vista to Jeff Hill for $2,000.
The agenda includes several items related to Chariton Valley Planning and Development and a Community Development Block Grant with the city for housing rehabilitation.
One item on the agenda deals with a street light and new pole at 928 Woodland View Drive in Centerville to be leased from Alliant Energy.
On Sept. 4 the council approved a resolution to install a street light on an existing pole at 928 Woodland View Drive, which is Councilman's Randy Marcussen's residence.
When Alliant Energy went to install the light on the existing pole, they were stopped and told that was not what Marcussen understood would happen.
Several options exist to remedy this situation.
The council has a resolution in front of them to consider a change order for the 2011 sludge processing facilities improvements project between the city and Oakview dck, LLC in the amount of $4,941.
