CENTERVILLE —
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Centerville City Council meeting is tonight at City Hall starting at 5:30 p.m.
The council has a full agenda, including a request to continue the Centerville Garden Club's pedestrian walkway obelisks on the square project, an update on the Safe Routes to School project and consider the police department's rules and regulations governing the proposed 2012/2013 bow deer hunt inside city limits.
If the bow deer hunt is approved, hunting will start Oct. 1, end Jan. 10 and the archery season would be closed during shotgun season.
Other items of note include the consideration of an agreement with Chariton Valley Planning and Development COG for writing and preparing an application for a Community Development Block Grant housing rehabilitation grant and a proposal made by ACF for the operation of a brush dump.
Nichole Moore, CVP&DCOG executive director, in an email sent to City Hall Aug. 22, writes if the city decides to move forward and have them write the grant application, the cost would be $7,000.
"Should the city have other projects that you see will need assistance, we would be glad to talk with you about those as well," Moore writes. "Please trust me as the director that we are moving forward in the right direction and that we are here to assist your community."
In a subsequent email sent to City Hall Moore writes if the council approves CVP&DCOG's request to write the grant, the $7,000 fee can be paid in three equal amounts.
In other action, the council will look at re-appointing Steve Fogle to a five year term on the Board of Review, re-appointing John Humphrey to a two year term on the Municipal Housing Board and the appointment of Don Hook to a five year term on the Centerville Airport Commission.
The cost of the Sludge Processing Facilities Improvements 2011 project with contractor Oakview LLC has been estimated upward. Hall Engineering submitted for council approval a $16,743.96 change order due to additional cost for water main relocation.
If approved, the project's revised contact amount will be $1,639,043.96.
