CENTERVILLE —
The University of Iowa announced the vanguard members of the College of Public Health’s Business Leadership Network. Centerville residents Jill Baze, human resources manager for Hillphoenix and Greg Fenton, plant manager for Lee Container, are two of five members forming the initial class of the new initiative.
“The Business Leadership Network recognizes the central role of small- and medium-sized businesses in building good health at the local community level,” says Sue Curry, dean of the College of Public Health. “Through this network, businesses and communities will engage with the college in collaborative development of public health research, injury prevention efforts, educational programs, and service learning opportunities aimed at improving the health of Iowans.“
The network will also provide opportunities for businesses to engage with the training, service, and research initiatives offered by the UI College of Public Health, to network with other business and industry leaders throughout Iowa about public health, and to share ideas and best practices in regard to health and wellness.
Baze has an undergraduate business degree in accounting and an MBA in Human Resource Management. She has earned a Professional in Human Resources certification. Prior to Hillphoenix, Jill worked in the HR department for Cargill Corn Milling plant located in Eddyville and as a GL accountant at Harper Brush Works in Fairfield.
Baze has been involved with many community groups including the Centerville Athletic Booster Club (vice president), the Appanoose County Wellness Coalition and has volunteered as a tutor for the Centerville school district.
Fenton is currently the plant manager at Lee Container in Centerville. He served one term as mayor of Centerville and he has more than 30 years of experience in plastic manufacturing.
Fenton previously attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville. He is a past president and vice president of the Appanoose County Historical Society.
