CENTERVILLE —
Over the next three months Mercy Medical Center — Centerville will be conducting a community health needs assessment that will be used to guide the hospital in addressing current and future healthcare needs. MMCC will be partnering with the Appanoose County Public Health to complete this work. Vince Vandehaar MBA from VVV Research & Development INC, an independent health research and consulting firm from Olathe, Kan., has been retained to conduct and complete this assessment.
In early March, approximately 1,000 families from our service area will receive a comprehensive healthcare survey in the mail. We are asking those who receive this survey to please take the time to complete it so we may better serve the health needs of our communities. There is also an on-line option available for those to choose to take it via the web. In addition, the hospital will host a public town hall meeting on Thursday, April 11 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Majestic Ballroom in Centerville.
“We hope that the community will take advantage of this opportunity to provide input into the future of healthcare and services we offer. The feedback we receive from this assessment is essential in the planning for the future health and wellness of Centerville’s service area,” said Clint Christianson, CEO.
According to Ann Young, vice president of Community and Staff Relations, who is leading the hospital’s effort, this may be one of the first comprehensive community health surveys completed in a long time.
“The hospital is pleased to be working with the county health department and other agencies in identifying priorities and working to improve the area’s health status,” she added.
