CENTERVILLE —
One of three Appanoose County men accused of disrupting 911 service June 6 has been sentenced to state prison.
Timothy John Hatfield, 25, of Centerville, was sent to state prison by Judge Daniel P. Wilson for 10 years for one count of first degree criminal mischief, a class C felony. Judge Wilson on Aug. 21 also imposed a fine and then gave Hatfield credit for any time served.
Hatfield entered a voluntary, negotiated guilty plea to the charge.
Hatfield was transferred to Oakdale by the Appanoose County Sheriff's office Aug. 22.
Hatfield owes $4,297.65.
Hatfield, now sentenced, along with Rhett Tyler Sandner, 22 and Clifford Dale Ruckman, 20, both of Centerville, allegedly disrupted 911 service in the 27000 block of Highway 5 by cutting a telephone line that served the Cincinnati area and 911 service. The Appanoose County Sheriff's office investigation at the scene found a 25 "pair telephone line had been cut under a bridge on Highway 5."
Ruckman is scheduled for a plea proceeding Oct. 12.
Sandner is scheduled for a pretrial conference Dec. 11.
Hatfield's felony criminal history includes a class D felony conviction in October of 2009; a class D felony conviction in May 2009; and a class D felony conviction in January of 2008. He does have convictions for lesser charges.
Hatfield owes the state at least $29,900 for criminal prosecution.
