The Federal Highway Administration has awarded grants totaling $1,079,851 to the Iowa Department of Transportation for projects in nine Iowa communities.
Included is The Historic Hills Scenic Byway which was awarded a $200,000 grant. The funds will help fund, develop and implement strategies related to land use, traffic conditions, amenity development and marketing outreach for the Historic Hills Scenic Byway. The plan will benefit Appanoose, Davis, Lee, Monroe, Van Buren and Wapello counties

Treasurer’s office closed May 30
The office of Appanoose County treasurer will be closed 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 for motor vehicle training in Ottumwa. Regular office hours will resume Thursday, May 31. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Driver’s license hours are 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
