The Lelah Bradley Active Living Campus was awarded a $190,000 Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant this week by the state’s Vision Iowa Board.
Appanoose All Play, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, is creating the $1 million plus sports complex on 40 acres of property south of Lakeview Elementary and adjoining Lelah Bradley’s reservoir. Eighty percent percent of the funds for the project have been raised locally and the grant CAT grant is the final piece needed to begin construction.
Up for immediate construction are two softball fields, three youth soccer fields, an adult soccer field for high school and tournament play, as well as a centralized concession and coordination building.
Future additions would include another two softball fields, four volleyball courts, a youth football field, three basketball courts, and trail links with the Lelah Bradley reservoir park.
Both youth and adult league sports may be hosted at the complex.
