The Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday afternoon the body of James M. Bennink, 41, of Corydon has was discovered after friends were unable to contact him Thursday, April 30. An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
The press release states Bennink had been involved in an altercation a couple of days prior to his death and had received medical attention for his injuries suffered during that altercation.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Decatur County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol are investigating the events surrounding Bennink's death.
