Two Wayne County men facing drugs, weapons charges
Two Promise City area men were arrested following the execution of a search warrant Saturday evening by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the South Iowa Area Drug Task Force at a residence at 2724 Ohio Road. Items seized at the house included suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, equipment and firearms.
One of the residents, Christopher Cody Keyes, 25, was arrested at the scene. The other resident, Cody Paul Hackney, 21, was arrested Sunday morning in Ottumwa by Ottumwa police.
Each were charged with conspiracy to manufacture a schedule II controlled substance, methamphetamine, while in immediate possession or control of a firearm, a class B felony, manufacture of a schedule I controlled substance, marijuana, while in the immediate possession or control of a firearm, a class D felony, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, marijuana, a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Keyes and Hackney appeared before the magistrate Sunday and are currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $106,300 bond each.
