Missouri man receives probation for his role to manufacture meth

A Unionville, Mo. man was sentenced to probation for possession of a precursor in a scheme to manufacture methamphetamine.

Lansey Rene Cheramie, 22, was arrested in the 26000 block of Highway 5 South by Centerville police officers in June and charged with possession of items conducive to the manufacture of methamphetamine, including pseudoephedrine, anhydrous ammonia, lithium batteries, coffee filters, plastic tubing and Coleman fuel, according to the criminal complaint. The items were hidden from view and not kept in their original containers.

Also arrested was David Wayne Irving, 43, also of Unionville, Mo.

Both men were arraigned on the charge of conspiracy to manufacture less than five grams of methamphetamine, a class C felony, in August.

Irving pleaded not guilty to the charge and faces a trial in January.

Appanoose County Attorney Richard Scott filed amended trial information against Cheramie on Sept. 4 to include Count II, possession of a precursor, pseudoephedrine, with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a class D felony.

Cheramie on Sept. 4 entered a voluntary negotiated guilty plea to the crime of possession of a precursor with intent to manufacture, a class D felony. Judge Kirk A. Daily on Oct. 30 sentenced him to five-years in prison, suspended to five-years probation with the Eighth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. The judge imposed a $750 fine, a 35 percent surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge.

The court dismissed Count I against Cheramie.
