The Daily Iowegian will reprint a new version of "A Pictorial History of Appanoose County, Iowa."
This book will be an exact reprint of the library-quality hard bound collectors’ edition, except it will be a digital printing and have a soft cover. Originally published in 1996, the book will still feature 128 pages of old photos and text depicting the people and places of Appanoose County.
"We have had requests for copies in the past, but not enough to reprint our book. It took 200 or more orders to reprint before," Daily Iowegian Publisher Becky Maxwell said. "Now with new technology, we can reprint digitally in smaller quantities. So our book will be available from now on in this new format.
"We feel where we live is such a charming place, so rich in history, that people who did not receive the book at the first printing would like a historical keepsake such as this," Maxwell said.
If you would like a copy you may order by sending or bringing in your payment now to the Daily Iowegian office at 105 N. Main, P.O. Box 610, Centerville, IA 52544. The price is $29.95 plus $2.10 tax per copy.
Some questions people are asking about the differences between this book and the original:
Q. What is the difference between a digital printing and conventional printing?
A. Digital printing uses toner on paper instead of ink.
Q. Will it last as long?
A. No, however we can always make more, so the book will be available in the future.
Q. What do you mean soft cover?
A. Soft covered books are perfect bound, like a digest or novel.
Q. Will the printing look as good?
A. Not quite as good but close. Come in and compare.
Q. Will you offer the book forever or should I get one now?
A. We suggest you get your copy now. We intend to offer the book as long as we have requests.
“Those who missed out the first time, will not want to miss out again,” Maxwell said.
If you have a copy of the first printing and want to keep it like new, consider keeping the digital version for everyday use. For more information regarding this publication call the Daily Iowegian at (641) 856-6336.
