Centerville woman accused of 10 counts of assault on a peace officer
A 22-year-old Appanoose County woman facing several misdemeanor charges was arraigned Nov. 20 on 10 counts of assault on a peace officer.
Nicole Renee Sales, of Centerville, is accused of eight counts of assault against Centerville Police Department Sgt. Mike Moore and two counts of assault against Appanoose County jailer Antonio Caraccio. The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred Sept. 5 at the Appanoose County jail where Sales threw a cup of water on Moore, struck him seven times with her left fist and she threw a bowl of cereal on Caraccio and kicked him in the leg.
Sales entered a written arraignment and plea of not guilty to the 10 counts on Oct. 24.
Besides the current charges, Sales has also been accused of the aggravated misdemeanor charges of two counts of assault on a jailer and others causing bodily injury and first degree harassment. She also faces misdemeanor charges of desecration of the American flag and fifth degree theft.
Her next court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
