ABD trucks will display Appanoose County attractions this fall

CENTERVILLE — Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division trucks have been traveling the state this year wrapped in advertising promoting several Iowa regions and cities.

This fall those trucks will display wraps showcasing and highlighting Appanoose County. The wraps attached to ABD trucks showcase Honey Creek Resort State Park, Exline Old Country Store, agriculture, cabins, landscapes, Rathbun Lake, State Street Trolley, The Continental, the Appanoose County Courthouse, Lelah Bradley trail bridge, the Ritz Theatre, sailing and the band shell on the Centerville Square.

The wraps are in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Iowa Great Places program.

"The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division is thrilled to have partnered again with Iowa Great Places to highlight and support these communities featured on our trailers," ABD Administrator Stephen Larson said. "These mobile advertisements publicize attractions and highlight what Iowa has to offer."

The graphics are made of adhesive vinyl 3M material and have a life expectancy of seven years. ABD estimates the advertising space each year has a $60,000 value.

This week the Iowegian wants readers to think about President Barack Obama. Since Barack Obama was elected president, two significant things have occurred: The military repealed the "Dont' Ask, Don't Tell" policy allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve and just recently he publicly said he supports gay marriage. For some, these actions signal a shift away from God, morality and threatens national security. Others say it's about time people in same-sex relationships can wed and openly gay service members do not threaten national security. Now, depending on who you listen to, President Obama is the first "gay" president of the United States. Is that something to worry about? So, the question this week is, "President Barack Obama, the first "gay" president of the United States. Is it cause for concern?"

A. Yes it is.
B. No it is not.
C. Don't care.
D. Not sure.
