Roads in Appanoose County were completely snow covered Tuesday morning, as snow continued to fall in the region.
The National Weather Service predicted about 3 to 7 inches of snow Tuesday. They forecast an 80-100 percent chance of snow through 5 p.m. Tuesday. There is a 60-70 percent chance of snow from Tuesday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 11 a.m.
As of 5:55 a.m. Tuesday, the Iowa Department of Transportation reported that Highway 5 in Appanoose County was completely snow covered. The DOT does not list reports for Highway 2 in the county.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Appanoose County until 6 a.m. today.
Schools and businesses that closed due to the storm: Buena Vista University, Ottumwa campus, Centerville Schools, Indian Hills Community College, Kids World Day Care, Moravia Schools, Moulton-Udell Schools, Seymour Schools, Wayne Community Schools, Appanoose County Extension Office, Drake Public Library, Elliott Tax Service, Iowa Trust and Savings Bank, Municipal Housing Agency, 18-80 Club, Tresmer Physical Therapy, US Bank, Hall Tree, Tangleberries, Marketplace Deli, Walker and Company and Appanoose County Courthouse.
