UPDATE: Fire destroys former church in Udell

UDELL —

A former church that was in the process of being converted to a residential home has burned down Friday morning.

Appanoose County Sheriff Gary Anderson Sunday afternoon called the fire suspicious but said it was not related to any other recent fires in the county.

Moulton Firefighters and Moulton Ambulance were dispatched to the fire around 9 a.m. Friday for the fire located at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Wall Street in Udell.

Udell is located about 12 miles northeast of Centerville.
